Aquatic Therapy

Our Warsaw location is able to provide aquatic therapy in their SwimEx pool under the supervision of one of our professional staff members. Aquatic therapy often makes exercise easier and less painful as the buoyancy of water helps decrease the stress being placed on joints. The warmth of the water also helps relax tight muscles and increasing blood flow. Muscle strengthening and cardiovascular conditioning can also be achieved by working against the water resistance. Further resistance can be achieved with use of weights, paddles, or increased water current. Swimming is not a prerequisite skill. Patients can perform each exercise while standing in the water, holding onto the side of the pool or using a flotation device. The water provides a safe and effective method for healing injuries, restoring patient confidence, and increasing mobility, which all help achieve the ultimate goal of transitioning to a tradition land based therapy program to enhance overall functional mobility.
